Conheça as atividades que estão sendo desenvolvidas por profissionais da Universidade em outros países, nesta primeira quinzena de julho:
Comunidades portuárias
O professor do Departamento de História Luiz Claudio Moises Ribeiro participará, em Lisboa, Portugal, de reunião da CoopMar, uma rede internacional que aborda a relação entre o mar e a sociedade, com especial atenção às comunidades portuárias, priorizando também a circulação do conhecimento entre as diferentes partes interessadas, como universidades, museus, fundações, empresas, instituições públicas e a sociedade em geral. Compõem essa rede: Brasil, Portugal, Espanha, Chile, Cuba e Panamá.
Entre os objetivos da CoopMar estão possibilitar novos projetos na área de cidades portuárias, envolvendo, por exemplo, o turismo, patrimônio e preservação ambiental nessas regiões. A Rede pretende também melhorar a circulação do conhecimento e capacitar gestores, estudantes e populações locais, por meio de formação profissional especializada.
Organizações e Animais
Um artigo que discute as relações entre seres humanos e animais em organizações como matadouros, fazendas, laboratórios e zoológicos será apresentado pela professora Letícia Dias Fantinel na Conferência Permanente sobre Simbolismo Organizacional. O evento, que será realizado em Roma, na Itália, terá este ano o tema Carne - Flesh and Organization.
Segundo a professora, a conferência reúne pesquisadores em estudos organizacionais, antropologia social, estudos culturais, estudos de mídia, filosofia, história, psicologia social e política. “Este é um evento trans e interdisciplinar, sendo, no mundo, o principal evento sobre o tema Simbolismo organizacional, cultura e mudança”, afirma Letícia.
Doença de Alzheimer
O professor Warley de Souza Borges, do Departamento de Química, participará, na Universidad Tecnológica Indoamerica, em Quito, Equador, de reunião anual da rede temática "La biodiversidad Iberoamericana con frente de recursos naturales para su explotacion sustenible". Segundo o pesquisador, o principal objetivo do projeto é encontrar plantas americanas que produzam Galantamina, um fármaco utilizado no tratamento paliativo da doença de Alzheimer.
Além de reunião com os pesquisadores de instituições da América do Sul, Central e Espanha, que compõem a rede, o professor da Ufes irá ministrar cursos sobre temas envolvendo plantas da família Amaryllidaceae, das quais compostos como a Galantamina são extraídos.
Transparência nas universidades
A professora Luzia Zorzal, do Departamento de Ciências Contábeis, representará a Ufes no VII Foro Internacional de Innovación Universitaria, em Vigo, na Espanha. A pesquisadora apresentará o trabalho "Transparência na gestão de universidades públicas brasileiras", que trata sobre o nível de transparência dos Relatórios de Gestão de universidades, com base nos princípios de boa governança na Administração Pública. “Meus estudos, ultimamente, têm versado sobre a transparência nos relatórios de gestão das universidades. Esse é um campo de estudo relativamente novo, que vem ocupando a agenda dos gestores atuais e está entre os mais importantes desafios das instituições públicas ou privadas”, afirma a professora.
Segundo Luzia, o trabalho, que tem como coautoras a professora Georgete Medleg Rodrigues, da Universidade de Brasília (UnB), e a professora Janyluce Rezende Gama, da Ufes, será apresentado no eixo sobre Gestão para a Inovação, do Foro Internacional. “Esse evento reúne profissionais da área universitária para refletir sobre as mudanças e as transformações que estão ocorrendo e avançar nas novas tendências no desenvolvimento do âmbito universitário e respectivo impacto no campo do conhecimento e das relações sociais”, conclui Luzia.
Toefl ITP
A professora Kyria Finardi, coordenadora de línguas da Secretaria de Relações Internacionais da Ufes, apresentará o trabalho "Internationalization and Language Assessment in Brazil: exploring the interface of Toefl ITP and ranking at Ufes" no evento internacional 39th Language Testing Research Colloquium, que será realizado em Bogotá, na Colômbia, com financiamento do Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq).
Segundo a pesquisadora, a avaliação do CNPq foi de que o trabalho apresenta resultados relevantes da experiência do programa Idiomas sem Fronteiras no Brasil, em particular resultados referentes à correlação entre os efeitos desse programa na melhoria da fluência em inglês entre alunos universitários, além dos efeitos dessa melhoria no processo de internacionalização das instituições de nível superior.
Outros pesquisadores
O professor do Departamento de Ciências Naturais (Ceunes) Wiliam Santiago Hipolito Ricaldi participará do 4º Encontro Afro-franco-brasileiro de Matemática e Física, em Dagbo, Benin.
Já os professores Breno Souza Salgado, do Departamento de Patologia, e Maria Carmen Moldes Viana, do Departamento de Medicina Social, representarão a Universidade respectivamente no 11º Seminário Argentino de Patologia, em Buenos Aires, Argentina e no World Mental Health (WMH) Survey Consortium, em Boston, EUA.
A professora do Departamento de Administração Lucilaine Maria Pascuci participará do evento 33rd European Group for Organization Studies Colloquium, em Copenhague, Dinamarca, e a professora Carla Braga Martins, do Departamento de Medicina Veterinária, estará no 50th Annual Meeting of Society for the Study in Reproduction, em Washington, EUA.
Marluce Mechelli de Siqueira, professora do Departamento de Enfermagem, participará, em Salamanca, na Espanha, do 6º Congresso Ibero-americano em Investigação Qualitativa e do 2º Simpósio Internacional em Pesquisa Qualitativa e Valdete Côco, professora do Centro de Educação, estará no evento ISCHE 39 Education and Emancipation, em Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Internationalization: get to know the works of UFES presented abroad
The participation of UFES staff in international events and activities, by invitation or by having their papers accepted, is an acknowledgement of a new level that UFES has reached with its master’s and doctoral programs.

Port communities
The professor of the Department of History, Luis Claudio Moises Ribeiro, will travel to Lisbon, Portugal to participate in the meeting of CoopMar, an international network that deals with the relationship between the sea and society. CoopMar focuses on port communities in particular, promoting the spread of knowledge between various stakeholders, such as universities, museums, foundations, companies, public institutions and the general public. This network is composed of Brazil, Portugal, Spain, Chile, Cuba and Panama.
Among the objectives of CoopMar are promoting new projects in port cities, such as tourism, heritage management, and environmental conservation. This network also intends to improve the spread of knowledge and educate managers, students and local populations through specialized professional training.
Organizations and animals
A paper that discusses the relationship between human beings and animals in organizations such as slaughterhouses, farms, laboratories and zoos will be presented by professor Leticia Dias Fantinel at the Standing Conference on Organizational Symbolism. This event will be held in Rome, Italy, and the topic of this year is Flesh and Organization.
According to professor Fantinel, this conference gathers researchers of organizational studies, social anthropology, cultural studies, media studies, philosophy, history, social psychology and politics. “This is a transdisciplinary and interdisciplinary event, being the primary event in the world on the topic of Organizational Symbolism, culture and change,” she noted.
Alzheimer’s Disease
Professor Warley de Souza Borges of the Department of Chemistry will participate in the annual meeting of the “The ibero-american biodiversity in relation to natural resources for sustainable use” network at the Universidad Tecnologica Indoamerica in Quito, Ecuador. According to professor Borges, the main objective of this project is to find plants from the American continent that produce Galantamine, a drug used in palliative care for Alzheimer’s disease.
Besides the meeting with researchers from institutions of South and Central America and Spain that are part of the network, professor Borges will lecture about plants of the Amaryllidaceae family, from which compounds such as Galantamine are obtained.
Transparency in universities
Professor Luzia Zorzal of the Department of Accounting Sciences will represent UFES at the 7th International Forum for University Innovation in Vigo, Spain. She will present the work “Transparency in the management of Brazilian public universities,” which addresses the level of transparency in management reports of universities, based on the principles of good governance in public administration. “Recently, my studies are about the transparency of management reports of universities. This field of study is quite new and has become part of the agenda of current managers, being one of the most important challenges for public or private institutions,” said the professor.
According to Luzia, this work, coauthored by professor Georgete Medleg Rodrigues of the University of Brasilia (UnB) and professor Janyluce Rezende Gama of UFES, will be presented in the Management for Innovation session at this international forum. “This event gathers university professionals to discuss ongoing changes and transformations on university campuses and to promote new practices, knowledge exchanges, and connections in the field of university management,” said Luzia.
TOEFL ITP
Professor Kyria Finardi, the Coordinator of Languages at the International Office of UFES, will present the work “Internationalization and Language Assessment in Brazil: exploring the interface of TOEFL ITP and ranking at UFES” at the international 39th Language Testing Research Colloquium, to be held in Bogota, Colombia. Finardi will be attending with financial support of the National Council of Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq).
According to Finardi, the assessment of CNPq indicated that this work presents relevant results of the “Languages without Borders” program in Brazil, and in particular, the correlation between the outcomes of this program on English fluency among university students as well as the internationalization of higher education institutions.
Other researchers
Professor of the Department of Natural Sciences (at Ceunes), Wiliam Santiago Hipolito Ricaldi, will participate in the 4th African-French-Brazilian meeting for Mathematics and Physics in Dagbo, Benin.
Professor Breno Souza Salgado of the Department of Pathology and Maria Carmen Moldes Viana of the Department of Social Medicine will represent UFES at the 11th Argentinian Seminar on Pathology in Buenos Aires, Argentina and at the World Mental Health (WMH) Survey Consortium in Boston, USA, respectively.
Professor of the Department of Administration, Lucilaine Maria Pascuci, will participate in the 33rd European Group for Organization Studies Colloquium in Copenhagen, Denmark, and professor Carla Braga Martins of the Department of Veterinarian Medicine will attend the 50th Annual Meeting of Society for the Study in Reproduction, in Washington D.C., USA.
Marluce Mechelli de Siqueira, professor of the Department of Nursing, will participate in the 6th Ibero-American Congress in Qualitative Research and in the 2nd International Symposium in Qualitative Research, in Salamanca, Spain. Additionally, Valdete Coco, professor of the Center of Education, will participate in the ISCHE 39 Education and Emancipation event in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
